Salted Peanut Chews

    1/4 cup butter or margarine
    1/4 cup peanut butter
    1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
    1/4 cup white sugar
    1 egg
    1 cup flour
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 cup caramel ice cream topping
    1 cup salted peanuts

Preheat oven to 350 deg. Grease, or spray with cooking spray, 9-inch pan

With electric mixer, cream butter, peanut butter and sugars. Add egg and beat until smooth. Add flour which has been mixed with baking powder and blend. Spread batter in prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and spread ice cream topping over batter, then sprinkle with peanuts. Return to oven and bake an additional 12-15 minutes, until topping bubbles and edges of dough just begin to pull away from sides of pan. Watch carefully, do not overbake.
Cut when cool into 20 bars
