Peanut Brittle

    2 cups sugar
    2 cups raw peanuts
    1 cup white syrup
    1 tablespoon butter
    ¼ cup Water
    2 Teaspoons soda
    1 pinch salt
    1 teaspoon vanilla

Boil the sugar, syrup, water and salt until it makes hard ball in cold water. Add raw peanuts and butter. Cook very slowly until golden brown. Remove from heat and add soda and vanilla. Stir well and pour on buttered cookie sheet or pan. When cool, break into pieces (If you like thin peanut brittle, begin stretching mixture while it is still warm).
